For The Love of Food

Welcome to Friday’s For The Love of Food, Summer Tomato’s weekly link roundup.

There are certainly some must reads this week, including Ruth Reichl’s speech from the Good Food Awards about how the food landscape has changed (for the better) in America. I also found an excellent discussion of the Paula Deen fiasco, and a handful of studies showing exercise is even more awesome than we knew.

Want to see all my favorite links? Be sure to follow me on on Digg. I also share links on Twitter (@summertomato), Google+ and the Summer Tomato Facebook page. I’m very active on all these sites and would love to connect with you.

    Some great articles here.

Don’t forget the great tips you provided on Healthynomics!

  2. Wow, seriously great links this week! It’s hard to balance the need to eat more fish with the notion that we’re eating sealife to extinction. I spent a few hours this week studying up on the Seafood Watch List, but it’s still difficult. I mostly stick to sardines, trout, catfish, and canned skipjack tuna. Also Whole Foods carries a great smoked makerel I get on occasion. And wild Alaskan salmon when I can afford it. 🙂

I wish I would have caught earlier that you’re speaking on Tuesday, it’s all filled up by now. BTW, I liked your answer for interview on cooking for people who are intimidated. I grew up on canned soups, frozen food, and bread/cheese, so learning to cook was quite overwhelming, and it is very good advice to start simple, grow from there. Learn the basics first.

  4. I always enjoy your Friday Love of Food. The balance of Paula Deen and her deep fried lasagna of this century compared to the artisans breaking ground with micro lettuce and our own delicious cheese made for good reading.
