  • Mayacoba heirloom beans
  • Rainbow chard
  • Pullet eggs
  • Summer squash
  • Flavor King pluots
  • Assorted peaches, nectarines
  • Blackberries
  • Assorted eggplant
  • Heirloom tomatoes
  • Early girl tomatoes

From Valencia Farmers Market:

  • leeks
  • basil
  • mint
  • avocado

    Wow, great picture! Is that stinging nettle? what would you do with that?

    Anon:Actually, I think those flowers you are referring to are Bull Thistleand are probably just decoration. However, many booths at the market do have Stinging Nettle, the leaves of which can be used for cooking. Reportedly it is a very nutritious green, but I have not tried it. Maybe I should.

    Can you cook thistle? To me those look more like (the closely related) artichoke in flower.Nettle soups and pastas are interesting, kind of earthy, but I’d say more healthy than delicious. And if you’re going for healthy, might be easier just to make nettle tea.I was excited to see the green zebras are starting to appear, although maybe they’re not at their peak? I took your advice and picked up some pimientos de padron, so we’ll see how capsaicin roulette goes.
