For The Love of Food

Welcome to Friday’s For The Love of Food, Summer Tomato’s weekly link roundup.

Many must-read articles this week, including the juice on processed OJ, the truth about factory farming and antibiotic resistance and the latest demolition of our favorite vegan propaganda book, The China Study.

Want to see all my favorite links? Be sure to follow me on on Digg. I also share links on Twitter (@summertomato) and the Summer Tomato Facebook fan page. I’m very active on all these sites and would love to connect with you.

Is there any science behind the “Train your brain to crave healthy foods” article? It seems like a powerful option, but the only evidence provided is anecdotal…

Totally I agree. I just think it’s interesting, but I have a lot of problems with the article as it is. There’s no reason to develop an aversion to chocolate. I just like the idea of your mental state being able to influence your food preferences.

I have wanted to eat organic and local for a while now, but my parents (I’m a teenager) think it’s “too expensive”. A few days ago, I noticed staph infection symptoms and went to the doctor. After an extremely painful ordeal I was diagnosed with MRSA, which could plague me for the rest of my life. Because of the “What the USDA Doesn’t Want You to Know About Antibiotics and Factory Farms” article, I now have the perfect argument and am sure eating fresh, organic, and local is for me. :)
