Mercado: The Ultimate Farmers Market Bag – Now Shipping!

by | Apr 22, 2012

It’s been nearly 7 months since we took pre-orders for Mercado, the farmers market bag that I asked the Quirky Inc. community to help me design, and the wait is finally over. Mercado is now shipping and we are accepting new orders.

I think you’ll love the final product, we spent months making sure every detail is perfect. I tested multiple versions of the bag and they integrated all my suggestions on design and materials to create the best product possible.

Mercado: The Ultimate Farmers Market Bag

I couldn’t be happier with the outcome, and it’s just in time for farmers market season. If you submitted a pre-order you should have received an email yesterday. Click on the link they provide to confirm your shipment. Please check your spam folder if you can’t find the email.

You can order the bag directly from Quirky. You can even grab a custom link that lets you earn 10% on sales if you share it with your friends and followers. The bag will practically pay for itself 😉

Thanks everyone for your patience and continued support. I can’t wait until Mercado arrives in your mailboxes!

  1. The bag is a great idea and looks well designed — EXCEPT it would have been great to have it be organic cotton, though I can understand if cost was an issue. More importantly, I don’t like the “nylon” part at all — why not cotton mesh? Nylon often contains PVC, which is awful for the environment and people, and shouldn’t be near food. If this is PVC-free, please say so. Thanks!

      Hi Etienne,

I agree the bag should be more environmentally friendly, but it should also be more simplistic so it can be sanitized to prevent the growth of germs.

Also i don’t like the wallet pocket, as its an easy target for criminals such as pick pockets etc.

      Wishing you all the best.

  2. Love it!

Keep up the good work Darya.

I wish this product every success, but please, please be careful about using the wallet pocket.

I used to work at Borough Market in London. I’ve seen how pick pockets operate at they love it when people put money in the top zip-pocket of their backpack or in a bag such as this.

I always did my best trying to stop them when I could, but you can’t watch all your customers all the time. Just keep your money secure, in London and other major cities at least.

Great idea. I don’t think it’s going to be possible to please everyone with the material choices. However have you patented this idea- you know great ideas need patents – so they stay your ideas – just sayin! Keep up the great work exploring good food options and reduce and reuse ethics. All the best

Where can I purchase one of these bags? I just came across it on Pinterest, but can’t seem to find a bag available to purchase anywhere. Thanks.

Sadly the bags are no longer being manufactured. That said I may have access to some extra in the future. Best way to stay up to date is to subscribe to Summer Tomato. Sorry :/

Is this still available via quirky? I’ve been trying to purchase it and it will not give me the option. I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE!!
