For The Love of Food

Welcome to Friday’s For The Love of Food, Summer Tomato’s weekly link roundup.

This week the sugar industry blocks dental research, high vitamin D linked to death, and Julia Child’s amazing egg poaching technique.

Too busy to read them all? Try this awesome free speed reading app I just discovered to read at 300+ wpm. So neat!

Want to see all my favorite links? (There’s lots more). Be sure to follow me on on Delicious. I also share links on Twitter @summertomato and the Summer Tomato Facebook page. I’m very active on all these sites and would love to connect with you. (Yes, I took that picture of the pepper heart myself.)

I love turmeric tea! I usually just steam almond milk and stir in some turmeric, honey and cinnamon. I’ve also been known to add a shot of whiskey on an especially cold night.

Your RSS feed has been screwed up for a few weeks. It always takes me to a 403 page and I have to manually go to the homepage to see any content. Just a head’s up.

    Hi Darya,

If you are really concerned about California’s water condition, I believe it would be more empowering of a solution to post this link as well or any other information about how much water it takes to produce 6 oz of meat. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10153199672254809&fref=nf

There has been studies and really the amount of water we save say by “turning off the water while brushing our teeth” or “taking shorter showers” is so tiny minuscule compared to how much water we can save by opting for MORE vegetarian meals instead of having meat and meat byproducts (that includes yogurt) I’m not saying we should all go vegan but to have indulge ourselves of meat products daily is indulgent, a luxury, a waste, and not crucial to our health. (1-2 of a meat dish a week is enough)
