michelle:

I totally feel for you. Keep pursuing your dreams and one day you can tell those advertisers where they can put those lies ;)

-----
anon:

Great point! For those of you who don't know, this is referring to Michael Pollan's The Omnivore's Dilemma, which you can purchase from this site (see sidebar). Before we can have a healthy culture and a healthy economy, we will need a complete restructuring of our national agriculture industry.

-----
zeus:

"Cancer sticks", I love it. It reminds me of the "death sticks" from Star Wars episode 1. "No, you do not want to sell me a death stick. You want to go home and rethink your life." "I don't want to sell you a death stick. I want to go home and rethink my life." LOL!

The Tobacco industry was made accountable for selling cancer sticks, and is now heavily taxed- when will our government make the food industry accountable for the cancer/diabetes/obesity that it has encouraged?

This story reminds me of the Farm Bill and Pollan's book- It seems like there will always be more lobbyists for the Diary/Corn/Beef industries than lobbyists from groups that are really concerned about health. So frustrating, from a taxed citizen perspective and from a consumer perspective.....

I agree 100% that the food industry has no interest in public health unless it HELPS their profits. It's obvious, they are a business!

I work in advertising and see firsthand how companies lie to consumers and do everything in their power to make a buck when their products are anything but healthy. Did I mention I wish I didn't work in advertising?
