FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How often do you post?

A: New articles are published Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday between 6am and 10am. Friday posts are compilations of the best articles I’ve read throughout the week and Sunday is my weekly Farmers Market Update.

Q: Who designed your site?

A: I designed my site by borrowing code from a few free themes (see Credits) and customizing it to my needs. It was a lot of work.

Q: What kind of camera do you use?

A: I use a Canon PowerShot SD900 point-and-shoot. It isn’t fancy so I rely on great lighting, composition and post-processing to make my images beautiful.

Q: Can I write for Summer Tomato?

A: Maybe. I am always accepting guest post applications, but ideas should be submitted to me for approval first. Please read the guest posting guidelines before submitting.

Q: Can I advertise with Summer Tomato?

A: I’m not currently accepting sponsorship at Summer Tomato. For further inquiries please contact me and specify your advertising needs for a price quote.

Q: Will you review my product?

A: Maybe. I am happy to review books, iPhone apps, real farm products and other goods and services I think might benefit Summer Tomato readers. However I never review supplements, health bars, energy drinks or any other junk food, so please don’t bother asking. Trust me, if that is what you are selling you do not want my review anyway.

Q: Why don’t you have a blogroll?

A: I read many, many news sources and blogs and absolutely love the food and health communities I’m involved in. I highlight the best stuff I find each week every Friday in my For The Love of Food posts. I removed my static blogroll because I found maintaining it to be too much work, since I’m constantly adding and removing sources. Plus I’m tired of explaining to people why I won’t include their crappy links. You can follow all my reading through my bookmarks at Digg and StumbleUpon.

Q: What supplements do you take?

A: Not many. I grudgingly take half a dose (one tablet) of a Trader Joe’s multivitamin called Super Crusade. And since I live in a year-round fog bank I take 2,000 IU of vitamin D. I will maintain unless I move somewhere it is possible to have regular contact with the sun, my favorite source of vit D. I get my vitamins from either TJ’s or Whole Foods.

Q: What is your favorite restaurant?

A: Right now I love Range on Valencia Street in the Mission District of San Francisco. Perfect food.
